Volunteers of America National Services has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Director of Nursing Leadership position with the Minnesota Float Team!

The Minnesota Float Team is a team of experienced clinical and non-clinical professionals that are devoted to providing individualized, empathetic assistance to seniors as part of Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS) which serves as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America parent organization.

Required Qualifications:
  • Willingness to travel and accept assignments at all locations in Minnesota, including Anoka, Coon Rapids, Minnetonka, Maplewood, New Hope, St. Paul, Sleepy Eye and Rochester.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently registered with the State Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses in Minnesota.
  • Registered Nurse with minimum of two (2) years' experience in nursing supervisory or nursing management in a long-term care setting, assisted living, memory care or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years administrative and supervisory experience in a long-term health care settings, assisted living and memory support.
  • Has knowledge of transitional care including skilled and unskilled rehabilitation nursing or related experience.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of long-term care, gerontology, rehabilitative, and medical-surgical nursing care, Antibiotic Stewardship, Infection Prevention and Infection Control.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements for long-term care, assisted living and memory support.
  • Understanding of current Infection Prevention and Control and OSHA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of QAA/QAPI theory and process.
  • Able to evaluate reports, programs, systems, and other data against both judgmental and verifiable criteria.
Position Summary
  • Partner with the VP Clinical Services, Regional Directors, Executive Directors, Administrators and IDT members.
  • Instructs staff on various federal, state and facilitys' regulations, policies and procedures; monitors compliance.
  • Accepts responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Campus Executive Director, Administrator or DON/DHS.
  • Schedules, directs and records regular department meetings.
  • Participates in the preparation of the operating and capital budget for the Nursing Department.
  • Monitors department expenditures to budget.
  • Oversees and directs day-to-day functions of the nursing staff
  • Review resident care plans
  • Serve on various quality control committees
  • Staff development
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Plans, directs and evaluates orientation and in-service training programs for the professional and non-professional staff.
  • Schedules, gives direction on agenda and records regular department meetings.
  • Reviews timekeeping, verifying hours worked and approves overtime.
  • Develops, implements and monitors a plan addressing staff training in reimbursement documentation requirements.
  • Participates in Executive Director/Administrator-approved ongoing educational programs.
  • Assists with the establishment, implementation and administration of facility Personnel Administration System.
  • Accepts responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Executive Director.
