Location of position: 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln

Work schedule: 8 am to 5 pm Monday - Friday
Examples of Work
Office Specialist -Vital Statistics: Under general supervision, greets and provides customer service to the public; follows established procedures performing a variety of clerical tasks to create, maintain and process vital statistics records and requests for certificates of birth, death, and marriage dissolution, and adoption; and provides supportive services requiring extensive and on-going public contact with departmental clients and staff; performs related work as required. This position is the key contact from customers placing Vital Records request on our Internet Webpage. Interaction with customers by email, on the phone, face to face. Using automated cash register. Records file search. Process of vital records requests received daily. Open, process and return customers' requests and correspondence received through the mail and Internet. Conduct electronic and manual file search. Seal, trim and issue birth, death, marriage and divorce records in accordance to Vital Records regulations. Communicate with public, state, county and agency sections in person, on the phone and through email. Handles emergency services phone and Internet requests. Provide backup to other Vital Statistics sections as needed.
Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency. OR Experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.

PREFERRED: Experience in performing office support/clerical functions or records management activities. Computer knowledge. Keyboard. Microsoft office. Windows. Excel. Fax. Copy Machine and other office equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience in customer service both in person and by phone or email. Experience in data entry. Has the ability adapt quickly to changes in a fast pace environment.
