Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for operating the automatic palletizer, related conveyor systems, stretchwrap machines, and manifesting equipment.

Job Description

Individuals in this position must:

  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures. Be actively involved in safety, participate in safety programs, engaged in safety activities, perform risk assessments and demonstrate ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members.
  • Start-up and shut down palletizers, wrappers and related conveyor systems. While the system is in operation, troubleshoot mechanical operations of equipment. Check for and pull out damaged cases coming through the system. Set up proper sequence for 9 block patterns of stacking. Insert slipsheets in proper location in pallets of cases. During times when the palletizer is down, assist in hand stacking cases. Be available to put pallets in the pallet dispenser when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with Maintenance, Package Operations, Forklift Operators and Supervisors.
  • Set Case configuration
  • Load Pallets in the dispenser using forklift
  • Pull off damaged cases
  • Address mis-stacked pallets
  • Load Slip sheets, tie sheets and stretch wrap
  • Print Manual tickets, print Bulk tickets, and change ticket media as necessary
  • Unload pallets from the trailer and load broken pallets on to the trailer.
  • Jog pallets on ATL feed System as needed
  • Pull off rejected pallets from the ATL System as necessary
  • Will provide relief to Tote Dump Operator
  • May be required to use a 2 way radio.
  • Required to use a computer touch screen to monitor and control equipment.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed to keep equipment and area clean.
  • Follow good housekeeping practices and GMP's.
  • Wear required PPE.
  • Actively participate in AMD activities; Maintain Centerlines and CIL's.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by a Team Leader

Job Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job. To successfully perform this job an individual must:
  • Ability to be Sanitation trained and qualified as it is a required aspect of the position.
  • Ability to be Lock Out/Tag Out trained and qualified as it is a required aspect of the position.
  • Ability to be trained and Forklift Certified as Forklift Certification is required.
  • Read, understand, and obey all plant rules and practice safety as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.
  • Be knowledgeable of the potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task being performed.
  • Actively practice and abide by all Company work, safety, and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.

Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)preferred.

LanguageSkills

Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job. The employee:
  • The noise level in the work environment can exceed 85dB.
  • Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Willoccasionallybe exposed to humid conditions as well as moderate heat.
  • Will frequently be exposed to cool conditions.
  • May occasionally work around fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and vibration.
  • Will work around forklift traffic.
