NASCAR is seeking a talented professional to join our team as a Part Time Competition Technology Technician I.

This position supports the Competition Technology timing and scoring operations through equipment set-up, operation, and maintenance.

SUMMARY
Support the Timing and Scoring operations by setting-up, operating, and monitoring Race Control equipment; pre-qualifying camera; and decoder network. In addition to unpacking and distributing radios and scoring equipment on a weekly basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform routine maintenance on systems
  • Assist with set-up and tear-down of scoring systems. (Printers, Computers, Caution Box)
  • Verify and update all scoring programs on computers.
  • Set up of the scoring/decoder network.
  • Monitors, diagnoses and troubleshoots connectivity between NASCAR Technology Center (NTC) and Race Control.
  • Keeps detailed and accurate records of situations, problems, repair items, etc. and routes to the appropriate level of person to be handled as archived. Must follow-up on submittals to ensure action is taken.
  • Input competitor data for practice, qualifying and race.
  • Assign and distribute scoring equipment.
  • Assist in the collection, distribution and verification of scoring documentation.
  • Monitor scoring system during testing, practice sessions, qualifying and races.
  • Repairs cables and other related equipment as needed.
  • Assists technicians with troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Assign radios and distribute weekend event list.
  • Conduct qualifying draw and distribute reports.
  • Set up and operate camera system during qualifying and races.

Approximate travel: 90%, including weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be able to use hand tools of the trade correctly and safely, including multi-meters, screwdrivers, wire cutters and soldering irons.

Able to read and follow SOPs, flow charts, and technical drawings or schematics.

Experience desired, but not required with:
- AMB electronic timing systems
- Any programming languages
- Network administration
- Signal distribution
- Wired, RF, and fiber optic cable.

Experience with or ability to use more complicated electronic test equipment, test programs and specialty tools such as coaxial crimpers, phone plug crimpers, pin & de-pinning tools, etc.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and/or procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to race teams, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in all Company employed software and hardware.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety to technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
NASCAR License.

OTHER SKILLS
Customer service, people skills, represents Company.
