This position reports to the Program Director and provides direct supervision and support to a team of certified peer coaches and peer volunteers to address the needs of people living with or recovering from opioid and stimulant use conditions, mental health conditions, and other substance use.
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated ability to assess and respond in crisis situations
  • Successful completion of the Recovery Specialist Employability Score (RSES) Assessment or prior work experience as a peer specialist
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • At least 1 year of experience providing peer support services preferred.
  • Leadership qualities/ demonstrated leadership ability.

Preferred
  • Lived experience as a person who was involved in the mental health or substance use systems. Lived experience with Opioids and/or Stimulants
  • Bi-lingual

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Certified Peer Specialist or obtained in the first 6 months of employment
  • CPR/First Aid Certification, must be acquired and maintained once employed (company paid)


OTHER

  • This position may require driving a company and/or personal vehicle. Must be privileged to drive according to the criteria set forth by Agency MVR guidelines.
  • Valid driver's license in jurisdiction of residence
  • Vehicle liability coverage if driving personal vehicle (on occasion, may be required to transport clients in personal vehicle)
  • May be required to drive a van
  • Acceptable EBI background, FBI Fingerprint (if applicable), Child Protective Services (if applicable), OIG Exclusion check.
  • Negative Drug/TB Screening.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with clinical partners to support the assessment of client safety in the home and community.
  • Advocate for client needs, assisting clients in verbalizing areas of physical and emotional risk and communicating those risks to their clinical team.
  • Provide oversight to team to include coaching and support in the field, regular supervision of Peer team with includes responding to staff trauma due to the high needs nature of the work.
  • Directly support engagement of clients in behavioral health services, must be highly skilled at connecting story as a former consumer of substance use/mental health service with clinical treatment, supervise Peers in this activity and ensure Peer's ability to communicate their position to the family and the clinical team.
  • Supervise Peer Support teams to assess service activities and therapeutic options for families they serve that will contribute to their healing and support and assist the peer to communicate that information to the treatment team.
  • Provide leadership for peers to actively participate in team meetings when needed and ensure family voice is heard throughout their therapeutic intervention.
  • Lead and supervise center activities specific to AA/NA meetings, sober nights out, MAT referrals, hotline operations, and Naloxone distribution
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPECTATIONS
  • Leads a team of paid and volunteer staff to offer the services and supports of the Peer Operated Center
  • Facilitates the collection of data and information to ensure contract compliance with reporting standards
  • Uses Peer Supervision EBPs to support staff and clients

  • Demonstrated participant outcomes - both qualitative and quantitative
  • Strong connections to the Ward 4 and Ward 5 neighborhoods

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, consumers, and program supplies as necessary.
  • The physical ability to travel to assigned locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities, and operate office equipment. -
  • Move and lift light objects up to 30 pounds such as mail, supplies, files, and equipment.
  • Operating office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
  • The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
