Role overview

The Pharmacy Technician I is a trusted advisor who helps members with any issue related to healthcare, from getting the right care at the right time to understanding how to get the most from their pharmacy healthcare benefits. As a Pharmacy Technician I you will work on an interdisciplinary team, providing your colleagues with accurate and timely solutions to a variety of member problems and support customers with pharmacy needs. This job requires critical thinking, creative problem solving, and the consistent application of discretion and good judgment, as well as a high degree of organization.

A day in the life...

  • Handle benefits, coverage and claims questions, including understanding the root cause of the issue.
  • Listen, assess, and comprehend member concerns and use judgment and problem solving to take appropriate action.
  • Provide colleagues with timely and accurate solutions to their members' complex pharmacy problems.
  • Develop a solid working relationship and processes with internal and external partners.
  • Comply with Company and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Facilitate issue resolution with any clinical needs to a pharmacist or nurse.
  • Participate in other pharmacy asks as required.
  • Able to do all the above in a telephonic and collaborative environment with colleagues.

What we are looking for...
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician required.
  • A valid and unrestricted license is required for the state of residency and workplace.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in PBM, retail pharmacy setting, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare advocacy related role preferred but not required.
  • A thorough understanding of the medication delivery system.
  • Solid technical skills.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to convey passion and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to engage others by being a good listener with a solid capacity for empathy.
  • Possess excellent ingenuity, judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to engage teammates to solve issues for members.
  • Team player capable of working effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Organized, dependable and thorough.
  • Flexible with a high tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Must display honesty and integrity.
  • The ability for self-reflection and the capacity to accept and utilize feedback is essential.
  • Must be comfortable working in a telephonic environment with members, health plans, and providers.

Examples of prior job experience/expertise:
  • Retail Pharmacy Technician (or Lead Technician)
  • Pharmacy Plan Call Center Customer Care Representative or Health Assistant
  • Pharmacy Plan or third party payer customer service Team Lead or Supervisor with strong technical skills (business expertise)
