A Phlebotomist II is an experienced phlebotomist who performs more difficult blood drawing techniques and assists in the supervision and management of the area. They work under general supervision of more senior laboratory personnel.
A Phlebotomist II typically:
performs difficult blood drawing techniques under specialized circumstances (such as drawing blood from newborns or patients with venous complications).assists with blood donor screening and collects blood units.recognizes adverse reactions in patients (such as changes in skin temperature or fainting) and initiates appropriate response.trains lower level employees and student externs in phlebotomy techniques.coordinates and schedules blood drawing teams either in clinics or on patient units.assists in monitoring expendable supplies; stocks area as needed.may perform quality control procedures for equipment (such as glucose monitors, centrifuges, scales and sphygmomanometers).performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Possession of the credentials required for Level I of this series AND one year of work experience comparable to a Phlebotomist I

This Phlebotomist II position is a
100%-time, benefits-eligible Civil Service position. The work schedule is Monday - Friday 9:00 am-5:30 pm (
37.5 hours per week, 12 months per year). The minimum salary is $13.55 per hour.
