Alliant Energy is seeking a Physical Security Specialist II in our Madison, WI office to provide ongoing execution and administration of corporate physical security programs that provide a secure environment for people, assets, and the flow of energy and that ensures compliance with laws and regulatory standards.

What you will do

  • Participates in the implementation and execution of physical security programs associated with facility, employee, and executive protection, including event security, access control, risk assessment, background investigation and active threat/workplace violence.
  • Participates as a team member and authority on physical security capital projects.
  • Identifies solutions, completes tasks, and ensures quality.
  • Works closely with vendors and information technology (IT) as an authority and an application administrator in the design, development, and installation of various technologies that support the physical security program.
  • Ensures that work abides by established physical security procedures and policies to remain in compliance with regulations and laws, including North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP) standards and the Transportation Security Administration directives.
  • Provides training to company and contract employees on security awareness issues, background investigations, incident reporting, badging and the key/core/lock program, and other corporate physical security considerations.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy's Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Required Experience
  • 3 years of experience in physical security, law enforcement or related field including asset protection, regulatory compliance or project administration.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to participate in 24/7 on call rotation.

Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology or related area.
  • Project management experience.
  • Understanding of Security Services technology.
  • Maintains highly confidential information.
  • Experience with photography, personal computers, scanners and technology systems and development methodologies to support security technology and investigation requirements.
  • Experience with security components such as cameras, card readers, and card access systems.
