Valid has an outstanding opportunity for a 1st shift Pick & Pack Clerk based in our Downers Grove plant in the Packaging department. The hours will be 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with occasional overtime.

What will you do?

The Pick & Pack Clerk will pick, pack and prepare orders for pick-up, local delivery, and outbound shipments, according to company processes and procedures. The work will meet or exceed the established standards of efficiency, quality and productivity as well as to result in a high level of customer satisfaction.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Print work orders and travel tickets at start of shift.
  • Pick orders accurately according to pick lists. Understand all aspects of pick lists to determine quantity, special work instructions, and shipping methods.
  • Prepare product for shipment via Fed Ex, UPS, U.S. Postal Service, or Mail Express.
  • Use a computer to produce shipping labels for FedEx, UPS or Postal Service.
  • Ensure product is packaged properly and safely in a box or envelope.
  • Match pick lists, product identification numbers, packing lists, and shipping labels, ensuring all numbers match and items are being sent to the correct destination.
  • Ensure the correct account number is being used to ship products.
  • Use scanner to scan bar codes to process orders via computer.
  • May be required to print carriers for gift cards and affix gift cards to carriers using glue material.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal departments to ensure accurate shipment to clients.
  • May be required to assemble boxes when needed.
  • Report damages or quality issues to supervisor.
  • Meet daily production goals as set by supervisor and follow all safety rules.
  • Follow standard work procedures for the department.
  • Keep work stations organized according to queue requirements.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned by Supervisor or plant leadership.

What are we looking for?
  • At least 6 months of related experience in shipping, warehouse, or fulfillment.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills using a PC Windows system.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English in order to read pick lists and follow work instructions with a high level of detail.
  • Work attitude must be proactive, positive, and focused on quality.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and being detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to verify numbers across various documents and materials.
  • Strong numerical and sequencing skills; ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
  • Ability to work while standing for the majority of the day, lifting up to 35 pounds throughout the shift.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment, while meeting or exceeding productivity standards and deadlines.
Preferred
  • Experience working with an RF Scanner.
  • Experience in the plastic card industry.
  • Experience using FedEx Ship Manager and UPS shipping software.
