Position Description

Responsible for safely operating a Pit Loader including efficient loading practices and maintaining quality of product stockpiles. Maintain safe working speeds and promote leadership of truck drivers. Assist in maintenance of loader and performing daily preventative maintenance on loader.

Responsibilities:

  • Completes daily pre and post inspection of working area
  • Ensure safe loading and dumping operations around conveyors, surge piles and crushers
  • Safely maintaining work areas with adequate berms and roadways
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance - tire pressure, oil, grease, diesel fuel, hoses for leaks and all moving parts for proper function
  • Maintain safe traffic flow throughout the site
  • Prioritizes SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by PRODUCTION
  • Will take an active role in the plant safety initiatives
  • Ensure a safe work environment for self and others at all times
  • Assist with training of co-workers as needed
  • Participates in other tasks required by supervisor
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required
  • Must be safety conscious, dependable, motivated, possess a positive attitude and work with others as a team
  • Six months of experience in operation and maintenance of a front-end loader preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Effective coordination and communication skills
  • Able and willing to cross-train in different areas of production
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skills
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
