PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to support the machine division assembly and supply areas with needed materials on a daily basis.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Develop and verify purchase orders for quantity, price, due date, and supplier per planning parameters.
  • Release signed purchase orders per predetermined dollar limits.
  • Expedite and de-expedite purchase orders due to changes in demand or count.
  • Cancel orders not needed in order to control inventory.
  • Creatively supply assembly lines and sub-assembly stations with purchased material, including permission notes for material substitution.
  • Respond to MRP and receiving exception reports.
  • Increase service levels to manufacturing.
  • Communicate closely with suppliers to improve delivery and service.
  • Be responsible and accountable for inventory turns.
  • Provide input and feedback to Senior Buyers on strategic plans.
  • Initiate contact with shop floor regarding quality/delivery issues and input to supplier ratings.
  • Participate in cost reduction projects as assigned team member.
  • Initiate inventory adjustments for purchased materials as needed with cycle count team.
  • Provide supply management assistance to the implementation of JIT/TQ concepts throughout the plant.
  • Work with Senior Buyers on the establishment of Supplier Managed Inventory Programs.
  • Be held accountable to meet goals for all parts under assigned planner responsibility.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company's 2025 Strategy.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  • College Degree and APICS certification preferred.
  • 3 years of previous Buyer/Planner experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of planning/procurement systems and ability to learn SAP.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office productivity software, such as Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to work with other departments, including Receiving, Quality Assurance, Production, Production
  • Planning, and Engineering.
  • Ability to interface with external suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Lincoln part numbers and products.
  • Capable of coordinating purchased items.
  • Able to work in a team environment for special projects implementation.
