Job Title:Post Doctoral ScholarDepartment:Arts and Sciences | Evolution Ecology and Organismal Biology

The Post Doctoral Scholar will be responsible for (1) evaluating the linkages in the conceptual models using monitoring data (2) forecasting the response of the FCMs to scenarios identified from stakeholders (e.g., changes in nutrient loading, climate, or harvest), and (3) working with Dr. Jim Hood to identify potential indicator variables.

Required: PhD in fisheries science, limnology, ecology, or related field. Strong statistical background. Strong publication record demonstrating the ability to conduct independent research. Strong communication skills.

Desired: Experience with large ecological datasets. Experience with time series analysis, fuzzy cognitive maps, structural equation models, and/or generalized additive models. Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups.

Additional Information:

Drs. Jim Hood and Stu Ludsin at The Ohio State University (OSU) are recruiting a Post Doctoral Scholar to work on a Great Lakes Fishery Commission project focused on developing quantitative and qualitative models of Lake Erie's ecosystem to advance ecosystem-based fisheries management of Lake Whitefish, Walleye, and Yellow Perch. Specifically, this project focuses on developing and evaluating conceptual models describing how direct and indirect factors influence the recruitment of the focal species. We will engage stakeholders in a workshop to develop conceptual models as a fuzzy cognitive map (FCMs) and utilize an information-rich timeseries dataset to quantitatively evaluate those conceptual models.

The Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar to join our team. This is a two year term position.

The pay range for this job profile is $50,000 - $55,000, annually. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
