Job Summary
The Premium Accounting Clerk III is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate application of premium for all Globe Life individual and group policies, as well as some specialized payment application such as loan payoffs and reinstatements. The clerk will be required to work with multiple internal and external customers, in addition provide some training to employees. They will be required to analyze policies and make necessary policy accounting and general ledger accounting entries. They will be expected to make appropriate determinations based on information provided and policies established by the Premium Accounting Department. Through these tasks and others, the Premium Accounting department handles $315MM in premium monthly and $3.8B in premium yearly.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The Premium Accounting Clerk III is responsible for premium research and payment application of both complex individual and group policies, including advanced research skills to ensure payments are applied correctly. Key responsibilities include:
• Daily balancing and reporting responsibilities
• Provide customer service to both agency staff and franchise personnel
• Receive, review and process all reinstatement requests for individual and group policies
• Responsible for all returned items to ensure that policies are reversed when money does not clear the bank
• Reverse policy accounting when credit card chargebacks occur
• Handle all loan payoff requests and payments
• Assist with training employees as needed
• Assist with the responsibilities of the Premium Accounting Clerk II as needed
Required Skills
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Advanced operation of a 10-key calculator
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; including outlook, word and excel preferred
• Intermediate accounting knowledge; including familiarity with general ledger entries
• Detail Oriented; ability to do complex research in multiple systems
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Available to work overtime as needed
