Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector Business Management Group Financial Accounting organization seeks a Principal Accountant to join its team. This position will report to the MS Accounting Support Business Manager and partner with the Business Management, Global Supply Chain, and Enterprise Services organizations to support MS sector-facing Accounts Payable related matters.
This position is located in Linthicum, MD.
Roles and responsibilities of the Accountant 3 include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Apply principles of accounting to maintain general ledger Account Payable accounts for Mission System sector.
• Selected candidate will partner with Enterprise Services Account Payable teams to troubleshoot Account Payable issues ensuring timely vendor payments.
• Compile and analyze; oversee and review preparation of accounts payable financial information and transactions, prepare reports and verify accuracy for MS entities data.
• Selected candidate will periodically provide consultation on GAAP related business matters, interface with DCMA and DCAA concerning new government regulations and practices, participate in audits, both internal and external, and maintain proper SOX documentation and compliance.
• Participate in the design, modification, installation and/or maintenance of accounts payable facing efforts, processes and other special projects.
• Reconcile Accounts Payable and Purchase Order anomalies resulting from the conversion between ERP Systems.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or Accounting or related business discipline with 6 years relevant work experience - OR - a Master's Degree as described above with 4 years relevant work experience.
• Prior SAP experience
• Defense program financial experience.
• Basic understanding of DOD contracts and government Cost Accounting Standards.
• US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic Understanding of GAAP and FAR
• MBA or CPA certification
• Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
• Prior experience managing and analyzing large sets of data
