Job Description

The Engineer will maintain and improve upon the manufacturing cost, processing performance and product quality for new and existing products, while assisting in the design and start-up of process equipment for CCM Polyiso - Insulation R&D products. Included in this responsibility are troubleshooting, standardizing, and improving existing products/processes as well as maintaining all standard documents. The role will support Plant Operations while connecting R&D and Engineering functions to plant processes associated with manufacturing and assembling quality processes and products. This may involve developing processing specifications, standard works, root cause investigation, data analysis, and training. Deliverables include technical design specifications for equipment, processing specifications, process assistance to the plants and development of ACE justifications. The Engineer will work with chemists, other engineers, and technically trained personnel, and operates under the general guidance of the Process R&D Leader, Manager or Director.

Essential Full Performance Knowledge

Typical Chemical Converting Equipment

* Polyiso - Insulation R&D
* Mixing and dispersion of thermoset, thermoplastic, and liquid compounds
* Polymer manufacturing and polymerization technologies
* Small-, Pilot-, Plant-scale processing equipment
* Plant batch- and continuous-manufacturing processes

Processing technology

* 3D Printing
* Engineering principles related to polymeric materials processing
* Assembly and Fabrication
* Testing equipment

Elementary concepts in building envelope system technology

* Equipment and Process Design
* Equipment and Process Installation
* Product / System testing and assembly at laboratories and in the field

Knowledge of polymer materials and compounds

Company rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Internal processing and purchasing specifications.

Standard test methods and procedures

Handling, storage safe handling of hazardous waste and materials.

Education and Experience

* Education - Bachelor or Master's of Science in Engineering, Chemistry, Physical Sciences, Polymer Science (or related technical discipline)
* Equivalency - Completion of a bachelor's degree in a technical field, with laboratory coursework. Or completion of an associate degree with 2+years of laboratory, engineering, or quality work experience. Candidates with other relevant industry experience may be considered.
* Experience - Zero to Five years as an R&D Technician, R&D Chemist, Plant Process Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Design Engineer or Material Test Operator in a manufacturing plant, test lab, or R&D facility.

Travel Requirement

* Some travel is required, approximately 25% of travel time (although more travel may be required on occasion).
