The Process and Systems Engineer responds to user requests for assistance or training and assess the needs of users. They perform initial troubleshooting and diagnosis of system problems, repairing when able or communicating problems to IT Manager. Monitors and maintains manufacturing software systems. Performs analysis on data requirements and specifications. Develops software applications using structured methodologies. Provides system level support for process interface computers (HMI) and system software. Maintains documentation on procedures for management of IT systems. Maintains relationships with vendors and ensures cost effective purchasing, inventory of software products and licensing and knowledge of warranty guidelines. Analyzes and compiles process information reports for management. Performs data backups and archiving as required. Maintains data integrity and security of systems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or electronics engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience in process information system design and development.
  • 7+ years of experience in computer science, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of equipment, technologies, terminology, and practices related to computer science and electronics engineering.
  • Ability to test computer systems and related equipment and to diagnose and resolve problems, coordinating efforts and proposed solutions with other IT personnel to ensure a continual process improvement.
  • Ability to operate the tools, equipment, hardware and software necessary to perform the duties of this position. This includes working knowledge of and ability to effectively use C/C++, NET Framework 4.0 and up, C#, WCF, OOP, SOA, Click Once Deployments, Multi-threading Programing, ADO.NET, Reflection, Streams (Binary, Memory), MSMQ, Windows Forms Transactions, Telerik Reporting, Infragistics Libraries, Power BI, and Microsoft SQL server and Oracle databases, PLC communications, OPC, TCP/IP to maintain, design and develop Level 2 and SCADA systems, Lab Automation, Control Interfaces, HMI user interfaces, Rockwell software applications and various other computer applications.
  • Must possess strong communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to convey technical information to non-technical staff to address user questions and/or train users when necessary.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of steel business, manufacturing and process analysis, computer software, data technologies and proficiency in developing system requirements.
  • Must possess knowledge and skill in system and software design and development and the ability to manage small projects and tasks.
  • Ability to read or hear and understand a variety and technical material and possess the technical aptitude and skill to utilize this information toward the improvement of the value, reliability and availability of Cascade Steel’s information systems.
 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Work is primarily performed indoors, in an office environment and is sedentary in nature. It may occasionally require the ability to exert force or to push/pull up to 40 pounds, and/or to lift/carry up to 40 pounds.

A worker in this position will be subject to both indoor environmental conditions and to manufacturing floor conditions. When work is necessary in the mill, where individual will be exposed to outdoor and/or plant conditions PPE is required and will be provided.
