Job Purpose

The Regional Procurement Manager leads a team of Procurement Specialists to execute the sourcing strategy at the local level and is the interface with local suppliers and sites. Is the key procurement interface with local stakeholders and the first escalation to handle local supplier issues. Leads local change management and continuous improvements projects to improve suppliers' quality, delivery, cost, innovation and sustainability (QDCIS) performances. Manages local, plant specific suppliers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Leads and develops a team of Procurement Specialists
  • Responsible for the delivery of local sourcing strategy
  • Serves as key-interface with local stakeholders to include Supply Chain, RDI (Research, Development and Innovation), and the local Business team
  • Manages local, plant specific suppliers. Acts as the first escalation interface to handle local supplier issues
  • Leads the local change management which regards to quality, delivery, cost, innovation and sustainability (QDCIS) projects. Supports and drives Value Engineering savings projects and Material cost reduction initiatives locally
  • Contributes and leads local continuous improvement/ AkzoNobel Leading Performance System (ALPS) projects
  • Contributes to regional or global sourcing strategies with local requirements
  • Responsible for commercial negotiations as delegated by Sourcing Director

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Supply Management, Finance or related field. Master's degree in related field preferred
  • 3-5 years' experience in procurement and supplier management to include cost management. Must be able to work in a matrix environment (sourcing and procurement)
  • 1-2 years' leadership skills
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills (multiple complex analyses simultaneously)
  • Good planning/project management skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be fluent in English
