Position Summary

MEPPI's industry leading Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) is looking for an experienced Product Line Manager - Service to manage the coordination, planning, order execution, and sales strategy for all Critical Power Solutions aftermarket services for new and existing fleet UPS systems. In addition, you will plan and manage training contracts, maintenance contracts, time and material orders, battery replacement and monitoring services, extended warranties, and field incident resolution.
Essential Functions

  • Lead the product line for CPSD Service. Manage Profit and Loss results of the product line. Plan and manage all aftermarket activities for MEPPI and MELCO.
  • Confer with CPSD staff and Company staff to plan business objectives, develop organizational policies, coordinate functions and operations departments, and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
  • Prepare business plans for presentation to and approval of the Company staff.
  • Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans as needed. Manage the budgets and facilities of the departments in the Service product line.
  • Manage service and replacement projects to the schedule, revenue and profitability commitments of the business.
  • Manage and direct staff according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve division and department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross training, and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
  • Develop national service contract strategies and with detailed objectives for service sales team.
  • Negotiate with customers on issues relating to product warranties, product life cycles, replacement alternatives, and field quality incident resolutions.
  • Manage spare parts supply chain and remote storage facility inventories.
  • Manage relationships with service providers.
  • Manage product proposals, negotiate contracts and manage risk assessments per Company Limits of Authority (LOA)
  • Finalize, maintain and execute the growth strategy roadmap for the service product line.
  • Drive the service acquisition strategy and oversee the integration of acquired service-based companies.
  • Support CPSD's General Manager and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or related technical or commercial field with a minimum of 10 years of service management experience and a minimum 5 years' management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Knowledge of UPS systems and service market dynamics.
  • Experience with product line development within the service sector.
  • Ability to read, understand and negotiate contracts and proposal language.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors and customers.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with emphasis on resolving technical issues.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments with emphasis on Japanese culture.
  • Developed computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products, such as Word, Excel and MS Project, to prepare reports, analyses and schedules.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 35% of the time as required.
