Kollmorgen is proud to offer innovative products that meet the needs of our highly technical Industrial Automation customers. To help us continue to grow, we're in search of product specialists for Drives and Controls. As an ideal candidate, you have a strong desire to teach, coach, and clear obstacles to winning in order to support Kollmorgen's Drive and Control Products' growth and marketing efforts by managing the product life cycle process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Help with execution of all product lifecycle processes for platforms and products, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, positioning, requirements development, and product launch
• Translate product strategy and unmet customer needs into detailed requirements for product features, cost targets and corresponding justification & prioritization
• Collaborate closely with engineering, production, marketing, and sales teams on the development, QA, and release of products and balance of resources to ensure success for the entire organization
• Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples to plant seeds and obtain customer feedback that breeds a successful launch
• Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
• Analyze potential partnerships from an ROI (and build vs. buy) perspective
• Conduct market research
• Understand your products and direct competitors' products deeply
• Update/enhance sales tools and collateral, teach the sales team how to perform product demos to customers
• Brief and train the sales force at regular intervals
• Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation
• Technical understanding of automation products

Key Relationships

The position interacts with a variety of internal and external personnel. The individual must be equally at ease when interfacing with senior management, functional professionals and manufacturing associates and customers.

This person must internally champion the overall business strategy, the Altra Business System and compliance with the Altra Standards of Conduct.

Job Requirements
Critical Competencies

• Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority (comfortable working in a matrix organization)
• Must be able to travel 50% of the time (post-COVID)
• Embodies leadership skills
• Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal & teamwork skills
• Good written and verbal communication
• Experience with lean manufacturing concepts and practices is a plus

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Physics, or related field is required; MBA preferred
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Product Specialist or Application Engineer or, similar cross-functional or technical capacity (i.e., internship or specialist)
• Strong preference given to industrial motion experience in sales, marketing or engineering capacity
