Working with Team Detroit, the Analyst will assist in the preliminary loan analysis, prescreen, concept package submissions, and gathering/organizing due diligence for multifamily loans. The Analyst will also be responsible for tracking and maintaining loan transactions and client database through Salesforce. In addition, the Analyst will participate, from time to time, in special projects and initiatives for the FHA Finance team.

What you will be doing

Housing, Food and Shelter make the foundation of life. We work with owners of affordable and market rate housing to provide best in class loan solutions resulting in the preservation of safe and affordable housing.

Do you work independently but want to contribute to team goals? Do you enjoy working with financial statements and numbers? We need you to accurately transcribe owners' financial statements into our unique loan models. Once a loan is activated you will milestone its passage through each stage of production and closing.

Although you will have client communication, this is not a sales position. You will spend most days in an analytical role.   • Assist the production team by preparing accurate loan models; researching public and proprietary data to support the model.
  • Participate in discussions with the production team about model results.
  • Prepare and present loan quote sizers and concept package submissions for each property loan request received.
  • Reviews and prepares miscellaneous reports and documents as required by Production, often on short notice.
  • Initiate and maintain deal and client information in Salesforce.
  • Prepare loan applications, financing letters and quote letters.
  • Participate in weekly pipeline and production meetings and be prepared to discuss current status of all active deals in the pipeline.
  • Work with marketing to proactively identify and assemble deal information for use by marketing to prepare press releases.
  • Communicate with borrowers to facilitate collection of required transaction due diligence, as needed.
  • Assist in reviewing third party reports such as appraisals, market studies, engineering reports to identify key areas of strength and potential issues for loan requests, as needed.
  • Assist producers in marketing, lead generation, and cross-selling initiatives, as needed.
  • Communicate and problem-solve daily with teammates, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders


The education and experience we're looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2+ years of experience in finance or related field


What skills you should have:

Must possess extremely strong attention to detail and accuracy of information
  • Working knowledge of multifamily housing finance preferred
  • GSE/FHA underwriting experience a plus
  • Strong organization skills; must be able to manage multiple priorities
  • Exceptional financial and investment analysis skills, oral and written communication skills, and presentation ability
  • An energetic, efficient and resourceful team player and individual contributor
  • Must uphold the highest level of professionalism as well as confidentiality
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Expert in Excel required
  • Experience in Salesforce and Box is a plus
  • Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes
  • Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders
