Major Responsibilities:

  • Support the department Area Leader/Manager through efforts to achieve the departmental and company goals. Serve as an example for other employees in the department.
  • Maintain knowledge of all jobs within the department
  • Coordinate the training for new associates for them to be trained effectively; develop plan for cross-training team to ensure station depth
  • Provide training as appropriate for safety and quality systems, and sustainability.
  • Audit conformance to work instructions and procedures
  • Audit and assure that work instructions are complete and accurate
  • Provide improvements to work instructions and procedures
  • Post charts as appropriate for quality, safety, MOS, etc.
  • Shift Transition with On-coming/off-going Production Coordinator
  • Step into production assignments as needed to provide relief for absence or emergency
  • Lead Area 5S
  • Station Tool Ownership - includes tool board audits
  • Acts as the first point of contact for hourly associates
  • Facilitate department Start of Shift Meeting
  • Plan department work and assign daily tasks
  • Assist in Safety reporting for the station/area. Assist in near miss/property damage investigations
  • Part flow facilitation
  • Quality facilitation
    • Clear EP&T
    • Vision System Issues
    • Speed build Sign-Off
  • Provide team performance feedback to Supervisor
  • Provide general support and communication for the team
  • WIP counting, posting, alarming when necessary
  • Complete non-routine projects or assignments, i.e. participation in Kaizen events and helps to lead improvement processes
  • Act as interim leader in cases of a supervisor's short-term absence
  • Complete other assignments as deemed necessary by the area Supervisor

Qualifications:

Must have ability to:
  • Perform basic troubleshooting activities with minimal direction after training
  • Recognize bottlenecks and adjust plan/manpower as necessary
  • To use hand tools, understand and perform required techniques
  • Identify problems and come up with appropriate solutions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, quality specifications and engineering specifications
  • Be familiar with the use of industrial equipment and mechanical tools
  • Operate Crane
  • Perform By-Pass functions in Vision
  • Read the Production Schedule
  • Work in a Windows computer environment.
  • Look up Work instructions or reference documents
  • Take initiative
  • Extend shift by 30 minutes on each end

  • Oriented to continuous improvement; make suggestions and improve processes and quality
