We are looking for an Production Manager who will join our Chemical Manufacturing Plant in Marysville, OH.

If you enjoy leading in a fast-paced and high energy manufacturing environment, then you will fit in well as our Production Manager. On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for driving safety, quality, manufacturing, associate development, and continuous improvement activities across the production facility.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Oversee the process and packaging operations for production operation.
  • Directly lead a team of 4 salaried and indirectly lead 100-150 hourly full-time and seasonal associates across a three-shift operation.
  • Provide leadership direction and support to the facility through participation on the plant leadership team and by positively interfacing with production support teams such as Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Shipping, and Scheduling.
  • Ensure a best-in-class Safety, Environmental, and Health culture by leading by example and adhering to and improving upon existing processes and programs.
  • In partnership with Human Resources, develop associate recognition, succession, and training programs. Establish departmental expectations and drive accountability.
  • Analyze and improve upon key production metrics that will impact plant performance and efficiencies. Drive process improvements to advance associate safety, improve customer satisfaction, control costs and reduce waste.
  • Own the department budget, including labor utilization, overtime, material cost variances and new product costing.
  • Support the development of new products, facility improvements, and capital projects by aligning with the corporate partners and coordinating with internal departments to provide input, resources, and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain positive associate and community relations. Participate in community events and activities and organizations to promote goodwill and a positive company image.

What you'll need to be successful:
  • Bachelor's degree focused in Engineering (highly preferred), Supply Chain, Manufacturing or other related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing/production leadership experience in a plant environment (preferably in a packaging operation or solids handling).
  • Experience in initiating and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proven leader who thinks and leads with the enterprise in mind. This means breaking down silos, having shared goals, and considering the impact of decisions across all of our functions.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a passion for leading people.
  • Personal drive, and focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to help develop/drive strategic improvement initiatives and the willingness and desire to grow into future manufacturing positions and the ability to relocate to other Scott Miracle-Gro locations.
