Ensure DFA products are produced and distributed to the highest food safety and quality standards. Oversee operations and supervise assigned employees for each shift. Recognize deviations from standards and determine correct problem resolution.

  • Follow and enforce all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in consistent manner with all corporate, regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
    • Ensure staff complies with all practices and requirements listed above
    • Record and report any actions or nonconformities that violate the above
    • Monitor and document progressive discipline procedures
    • Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
    • Provide guidance to all team members to ensure conformance to the above standards, including communication of work and company information as needed
  • Take proactive measures to develop and maintain a high level of performance for all team members. Provide constructive feedback and training when needed.
    • Provide training to new hires and existing employees on various topics including those required by OSHA and other regulatory agencies
    • Work to ensure employee safety - we want everyone to leave in the same condition that they arrived
  • Follow production schedule and ensure that goals and targets are met
    • Ensure all steps in the process are completed in a timely manner and are in conformance with the required specifications
    • Monitor equipment performance and cleanliness
    • Develop solutions when complications arise, seek additional guidance when needed
    • Coordinate the movement of product and ensure that the needed resources are available to complete production objectives
  • Maintenance of records for receiving, production, and shipment of product.
    • Monitor charts and other records to ensure completeness and accuracy
    • Maintain accurate records of inventory and other methods required for product traceability
    • Aid other departments in matters related to recordkeeping and inventory control
  • Maintain a working knowledge of employee attendance practices and procedures
    • Advise employees on matters related to timecard corrections and time off requests
    • Work with the production manager to ensure necessary staffing
    • Review and approve employee timecards
    • Address employees regarding unauthorized time away from their workstation
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all plant systems and equipment
  • Ensure availability to respond to emergencies or other unexpected events, to include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Attend required trainings as assigned

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 5 years of experience within food or beverage manufacturing environment, including 1 year of direct supervisory experience
OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience within food or beverage manufacturing environment, including 1 year of direct supervisory experience
  • Certification and/or Licenses
    • May be required to obtain and maintain other certifications and/or licenses in the future
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems, specifically Excel and SAP
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management, especially in union environment
  • Knowledge of processing systems and equipment
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations regarding waste, air, wastewater, land application, and storm water
  • Knowledge of safety related issues, including regulation compliance
  • Skill in proficient computer usage
  • Skill in critical thinking, analysis, mathematical calculations, and statistical evaluations
  • Skill in leadership and coaching
  • Able to complete basic arithmetic in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
  • Able to take appropriate steps to find solutions to problems
  • Able to handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism
  • Able to promote a team environment
  • Able to multi-task and problem solve
  • Able to respond courteously and efficiently to inquiries, complaints, and requests
  • Able to interpret and apply company policies
  • Able to adapt and manage to change effectively
