Team member is under regular supervision, set up and operates equipment that mixes or blends ingredients used in the manufacture of nutritional supplements, and/or package and label the finished product.

  • GENERAL PRODUCTION TASKS PERFORMED:
    Review work orders to determine materials, ingredients and procedures required to fill daily production work orders.

    Assists in the selection and measurement and/or weighing of ingredients, using English measures and balance scales.

    Set up, operate and tend equipment that mixes, blends, or processes ingredients according to appropriate SOPs.

    Mix or blend ingredients, according to recipes, using a paddle, an agitator, or by controlling vats that mix ingredients.

    Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures temperatures, amounts, dimensions and flow of ingredients.

    Record production and test data, such as processing steps, weights, batches processed and test results.

    Listen for malfunction alarms and shut down equipment and notify team leader when necessary.

    Inspect and pack the final product.

    Label all unlabeled product as stated on daily work orders.

    Clean, wash, and sterilize equipment and preparation area, following specific SOP for cleaning each machine daily and between runs to prevent any microbial or cross-product contamination.
    Remove garbage from facility daily or as needed throughout the work day.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATION:

All Production Team Member Is are required to understand and follow proper procedures for operating and cleaning the heavy processing equipment utilized in the production of nutritional supplements for which they have been trained. Equipment includes:

RESPONSIBILITY:

All Production Team Member Is are responsible for the cleanliness of the Production facility and for their own safety and the safety of their fellow team members. All team members must:

wear a hair net that covers the hair completely. A beard net is to be worn if applicable (face hair longer than ¼"). wear lab coats/smocks or company provided shirts. when working with bulk product, capsules, liquids, powders, empty bottles, gels, foods, etc., must wear the appropriate gloves and have nothing in upper pockets that could fall into the product. not wear jewelry, including rings, bracelets, pins, necklaces, charms, earring, watches, etc., when working in the production area. Stainless steel medical I.D. bracelets/necklaces are permissible and must be covered by clothing. not consume food, drink, snuff, candy, throat lozenges, cough drop, chewing gum etc. while in the production area. sanitize all food contact surfaces at the start of work each shift, using a sanitizing solution. sweep the floors throughout the day. not store anything in the production rooms. The only bulk, boxes, lids, bottles, etc., in the room are those in use or to be used during the present shift. keep all exits, aisles, and fire extinguishers clear at all times. refer to the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) whenever working with unfamiliar product. When in doubt, ask a team leader. check all bulk for broken tablets/caps, rancidity, insect and animal contamination, etc. Report any rancid product or contamination to the team leader immediately. clean up all spills immediately. wash their hands before returning to work after leaving their station. clean all utensils after each job. Utensils that have touched the floor or other unsanitary surface are to be thoroughly sanitized before use. The stainless-steel sinks are to be used for all thorough cleaning. Pay attention to their personal hygiene. Any team member who, by medical examination or team leader observation, appears to have a health or sanitary condition (to include unsanitary clothing and/or body odor) which could adversely affect the product, will be excluded from the affected operations until the condition is corrected, or determined by competent medical personnel that the condition does not jeopardize the safety or quality of the product. not wearing radio, cassette tape or CD headphones while operating machinery. not wear cosmetics - cosmetics including fingernail polish, false fingernails, rouge, facial powder, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, lipstick, false eyelashes, etc. The use of lip balms such as "chapstick", and a hand and facial creams or other such items that are absorbed into the skin are not considered cosmetics. keep personal items, including purses, newspapers, books, lunches, snacks, plants or flowers, clothing, etc. in lockers and all food items in the kitchen area. wear a bandage and gloves to cover any open cuts or evidence of infection on the hands. keep hands away from the mouth, nose, ears, hair, and non-sanitary surfaces when handling un-packaged products and product contact surfaces. Should a person cough or sneeze, turn away from the product and packaging area and cover the mouth and nose with hands. The hands must be washed thoroughly, and a new pair of gloves must be put on before returning to work. protect raw materials and finished products from dirt and contamination. Raw materials include bulk product, containers, inserts, and lids. Any bulk, bottles, bags, lids, or inserts that come in direct contact with the floor or any other unsanitary surface are to be thrown away. check all containers prior to packaging for breakage and contamination. wear personal protective equipment including: a respirator or dust mask if the product is dusty or hazardous, eye protection for all liquid filling, hearing protecting while working on loud machinery, and other equipment when necessary. utilize vacuums whenever possible for dust removal. clean their work area at the end of their shift. All containers should be closed and anything going back to the warehouse should be tightly sealed. EFFORT REQUIRED:

Selective Attention - The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted. Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. Rate Control - The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object. Reaction Time - The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears. Perceptual Speed - The ability to quickly and accurately compare similarities and differences among sets of letters, numbers, objects, pictures, or patterns. The things to be compared may be presented at the same time or one after the other. This ability also includes comparing a presented object with a remembered object. Reading Comprehension - The ability to read and comprehend production schedules, formula sheets, etc. written in English; and record information applicable to position. The ability to read, comprehend and practice necessary safety procedures, signs, etc. written in English.

PHYSICAL Trunk Strength - The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing. Production team members spend a great deal of time on their feet and generally work a regular 40-hour week plus scheduled overtime and may include evening shifts. Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders to a height of 12 feet. Ability to stoop and bend while lifting weights up to 70 lbs. unassisted.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work in warehouse environment where negative elements are present to a moderate degree, including exposure to outside weather conditions, and indoor elements such as temperature extremes, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Exposure to Risk: Frequent handling of heavy material.

Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Ability to wear and use approved, applicable safety equipment, as required i.e. safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection, etc.

Move and relocate materials with fork truck

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required.
