Position Summary

Responsible for all facets of multi-camera productions (in-game entertainment, webcasts, broadcasts and commercial events), including but not limited to setting up and troubleshooting equipment, pre-producing video, graphic and audio content, supervising part-time staff, logging and archiving video content. Also be expected to be proficient with video switchers and routers, audio consoles, camera systems, video servers, display controllers, intercom systems, lighting equipment, graphic systems, and editing/archiving systems

Essential Functions

1. Responsible for all aspects of technical event support, including pre-production, production and post-production support. Includes, but not limited to: the creation and organization of content, configuring display controllers, as well as creating, loading and removing content from video servers. Also responsible for setting up audio/video equipment prior to events, ensuring equipment is functioning properly, teardown of audio/video equipment, and the proper storing of audio/video equipment after events.

2. Ability to produce and direct multi-camera productions. Includes proficiency with multiple systems, including but not limited to video switchers/routers, audio consoles and signal processing, video servers, display controllers, camera systems, graphics systems, lighting equipment, intercom/IFB systems.

3. Supervises part time staff, work study students and interns. Also, coordinates the implementation of technical services with various departments, including but not limited to Development, Marketing, Communications, Sponsorship, Creative Services, Ticketing, Events/Operations and Sport Programs.

4. Responsible for accurate logging and archiving of video content. Requires knowledge of Avid editing and storage systems, as well as digital asset management software.
5. Assists Assistant Athletic Director and Associate Director for Technical Services with daily functions of office management. Includes but not limited to event planning, event staffing, scheduling, database management and professional development, Also, identifies and resolves problems with equipment and performs minor repairs as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Quantitative and qualitative reasoning is necessary. Creative problem solving and the ability to exercise good decision making under pressure. Ability to learn from introspection and reflection.
  • Ability to comprehend complex video, audio, scoring and display systems. Includes operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing individual components of the same systems.
  • Ability to prioritize a high volume of work and perform efficiently. Makes independent decisions and works on multiple tasks without direct supervision.
  • The work environment is professional/technical. Must be able to tolerate frequent, unexpected interruptions. Stress level is moderate to high. Hours are non-traditional, including evenings and weekends, often with quick turnarounds between late nights and early mornings.
  • Requires a high level of written and verbal communication. Ability to interpret documents such as business journals and technical documentation and apply that knowledge. Ability to effectively present complex ideas to clients, colleagues and general public through personal interaction and/or business correspondence.
  • Attention to detail, customer service skills, strong organizational skills and technical aptitude. Also, requires the ability to comprehend complex organizational structure and the unit's place within.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long hours. Work for extended periods of time in large crowds, often in loud environments. Ability to move about, climb stairs and ladders, access heights (such as catwalks), and lift objects over 25 pounds.
Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree, or vocational or technical school degree (usually about 2 years)
  • Minimum 1 year in field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum 5 years in field
Working Environment
  • Long hours, evenings & weekends. Occasional quick turnarounds-late nights to early mornings. Exposure to heights

  • Extensive standing, walking, climbing etc.
Work Schedule
Schedules will vary with some nights and weekends depending on events. Normal non-event days are 8am to 4:30pm.

The salary grade for the position is 8.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $26.56-$29.63
