Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition is seeking a highly motivated and hardworking assistant. The assistant will report to the department's Director of Food Science and work with the staff and faculty members on various tasks. This position's primary focus is on completing assignments given by the Director of Food Science with the position starting as soon as possible, preferably no later than April 1, 2023. If mutually agreed upon the position is attended to span for several semesters.

This position is expected to work 12-19 hours per week, without exceeding 19 hours per week. A specific schedule will be mutually agreed upon between the candidate and supervisor. Some duties can be performed remotely.

Job Functions:

• Assisting in making/editing PowerPoint presentations
• Updating spreadsheets and other general office assistance
• Copying exams
• Handling PCard receipts
• Assisting in the food processing complex lab setting and
• Equipment management
• Miscellaneous tasks including website and syllabi updates
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Highly motivated
• Exceptional communication skills and willingness to collaborate with others
• Willing to work during the summer, fall, and spring semesters in-person and virtual settings
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to use and maintain social media websites
• Strong organization skills
• Ability to learn new online platforms as they are introduced into the department
• Ability to use library and online resources to research topics
• The ability to learn how to run and operate new processing machinery and train others on operations
• Looking for someone who is flexible and willing to learn and apply new skills

Desired Qualifications

• A science background and familiarity with optical character recognition software is preferred.
• Access to a car for miscellaneous errands and a cell phone.
