Ideal Candidate StatementThe ideal candidate has experience working with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds of students; possesses strong intercultural, interpersonal and relationship skills; and has the ability to manage multiple high impact programs that engage and enrich the diverse Ohlone College district community.The Outreach Program Coordinator should have experience planning, coordinating and organizing events and presentations. This includes having the ability to clearly organize and maintain an outreach schedule, files, and documents, both digital and printed. This individual will provide a presence for Ohlone College at multiple community events, including Newark Days and 4th of July Parade. This will require the individual to enthusiastically and effectively answer questions about the college to individuals and groups, have a strong focus on recruiting prospective students utilizing face-to-face, and non-traditional outreach methods including social media, and have knowledge of the application process from high school to Ohlone along with basic knowledge of Ohlone programs and resources. The Outreach Program Coordinator will also be working closely and collaborating with the Director of Communications and Marketing. With this collaboration, this individual should be able to collect outreach data and analytics in regard to prospective student contacts and community touch points to provide intentional community support and offerings.As a member of the Office of Equity, Inclusivity, and Campus Diversity, it is critical that the candidate be open to further developing their lens of equity and service to marginalized communities. Under the direction of the Administrator, the Coordinator will help plan, organize, and coordinate various outreach events and activities to increase public awareness of Ohlone College programs, contributing to college efforts to increase college enrollment across the college. This position requires a significant flexible work schedule on evenings and weekends. This is a grant/categorically funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon available funding on a year-to-year basis.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Any combination equivalent to a Bachelor's degree with two years of experience working at an institution of higher education;
ANDMust have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate in Spanish, American Sign Language, or other languages represented within the district.
This position requires physical abilities needed to work in a standard office setting, including but not limited to: standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods; occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and twisting; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling light and moderate amounts of weight; operating office equipment which may require repeated fine motor skills (e.g.: keyboard use); and the ability to communicate in written and verbal forms. The position requires vision and hearing in normal ranges (with or without correction) sufficient to operate any assigned equipment and the ability to clearly communicate with others in written and verbal forms.
