Department Information

The mission of the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation Program (IN LSAMP) is to increase the quality and quantity of students from historically underrepresented (URM) populations receiving Bachelor degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The LSAMP is located within the STEM Education Innovation & Research Institute (SEIRI) at IUPUI.

Job Summary

The Project Manager for the LSAMP (Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation) Program will oversee and manage all operational aspects of the Indiana STEM LSAMP. This includes program marketing, Alliance-wide activity coordination and planning, delivering services to stakeholders, monitoring the alliance accounts and sub-award budgets, and working with the leadership team to make program operational decisions.

This position establishes and implements policies and procedures for the LSAMP program and is the point of contact for the Alliance's daily operations and represents the Alliance at the institutional, statewide, regional, and national diversity gatherings. Administers all aspects of program management including on-line and in-print program marketing, conducts Alliance-wide training, project data collecting for annual reports and program evaluation, Alliance events organizing, and internal and external report writing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage and direct sub-award administration, collaborate with the Alliance's campus coordinators/directors, manage the Alliance's budget that consists of four IU campuses and sub-awards. Tasks include reviewing contract expenditures, monitoring Alliance grant accounts, and approving the sub-award annual reports.

- Collaborate with the external evaluator to assess the implementation of the Alliance's strategies, goals, and objectives for alignment with the grantor (NSF) guidelines and the award stipulations. Compile and present data analysis on alliance-wide student enrollment, graduation statistics, grant recipients' profiles, research, and publication records. Write and publish the Alliance's annual report to the grantor, Advisory Committee, and the community at large.

- Plan, organize and deliver the Alliance's annual research conferences in collaboration with campus coordinators. Conduct facility assessment and contract negotiations for the conferences, design marketing materials, set conference agenda, invite speakers, and oversee the entire conference logistics including coordinating surveys for post-conference evaluation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's in a STEM discipline or Master's degree. Experience in coordinating multi-institutional project for underrepresented minority groups.

Working Conditions / Demands

Ability to travel to diverse geographical locations of campuses in the Alliance. Ability to converse via telephone, read, write, and effectively operate computer devices for extended periods of time is absolutely necessary for a person's work performance of this position.
