Purpose & Scope

This is an entry level project engineering position that will report to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for the design, testing and documentation of new products as well as supporting manufacturing. This role will collaborate with sales, manufacturing and the customer to provide a solution to the customers’ design challenges.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs.
  • Create & review designs for conformance to customer requirements & and proper application of engineering principles.
  • Apply, evaluate, and optimize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing.
  • Write test plans, test reports, and other technical reports in support of new programs to demonstrate compliance to customer specifications.
  • Interact with customers to clarify design intent and technical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.
  • Provide assistance in the development technical proposals, cost estimates, and schedules for non-recurring engineering activities.
  • Direct designers and drafters in design concepts and optimization.
  • Provide direction and assistance on development and qualification test programs.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related technical field, e.g., MSE or Physics
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software (Pro/Engineer or CREO preferred).
  • Familiarity with strength and stress analysis and mechanical Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical problems and communicate in clear simple terms.
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Familiarity with metal forming and manufacturing methods & processes.
  • Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects.
  • Experience with strength and stress analysis using hand calculations and/or FEA.
  • Experience with tolerance analysis and GD&T.
  • MathCAD software familiarity.
