Job Description

The WNET Group is undertaking an intensive Research & Development project to prepare for the launch of American Graduate: Path to the Future (working title), a multi-platform public media initiative that will help students in diverse communities across America explore and prepare for high-demand careers in the post-COVID-19 economy.

The initiative will also give public media stations in communities across the country the opportunity to deepen relationships with educators, guidance counselors, and other school-based leaders in professional development about how to leverage the initiative's tools with youth, as well as engage their local business communities about connecting students to jobs and careers.

The Project Lead will supervise all aspects of the project, and lead collaborative efforts across multiple departments at WNET, including the Interactive Engagement Group, Community Engagement, Kids' Media & Education, Development, and Audience Engagement. The Project Lead will manage, supervise, and execute the project, coordinating all internal and external communications, project timelines, and budgetary considerations. Key responsibilities include:

* Serve as the liaison between all production and non-production areas (such as publicity, outreach, web, distribution and fundraising) as well as developing and maintaining relationships with project funders and co-production partners;
* Develop and articulate an understanding of the project's target audience, consumption habits, and the competitive landscape for the project's overall objectives;
* Coordinate identification and hiring of external research/evaluation firm;
* In collaboration with internal departments, establish National Advisory Board; coordinate all communications and meetings of National Advisory Board and, if any, subcommittees thereof;
* Develop, produce, and attend all National Advisory Board meetings as well as associated subcommittee meetings, and synthesizes feedback for distribution across relevant departments;
* Integrate National Advisory Board feedback, research, and evaluation into the vision and developmental process for the project;
* Supervise development of test videos and wireframes;
* Monitor budget and staffing allocations;
* Manage executive level responsibilities for the project, including funder and Board presentations;
* Collaborate with Project Associate and all internal departments to meet timelines, deliverables, benchmarks, and content goals;
* In partnership with fundraising staff, develop comprehensive vision, strategy, and proposal for future phases of the initiative;
* Participation in occasional evening and weekend events may be required.

Qualified candidates will have strong planning and problem-solving skills as well as superior communication (written and verbal), project management and team leadership skills. Additional qualifications include:
* At least five (5) years of experience as a project manager or director with supervisory responsibility;
* Proven ability to manage multifaceted projects on aggressive timelines;
* Understanding of budgets and budget management;
* Proficiency with established and emerging social media platforms.

Candidates with prior experience in the following are preferred: working with research firms, grant management, education-related projects and/or developing content for youth (ages 13-18).
