As a leader on the U.S. Policy team, you will work closely with the global, regional & functional policy teams, as well as the communications, legal, privacy and strategic response teams on priority policy issues. These issues include: national security, geopolitical & foreign policy issues, free expression, innovation, data security, market access, competition, cyber security and election integrity issues. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to help execute strategies on both reactive and forward-looking policies related to those and other issues as they arise. You will also assist in coordinating strategic outreach to U.S. and international stakeholders, policy makers, influencers, geopolitical organizations & institutions, civil society, academics, and industry. The ideal candidate is a public policy expert with strong foreign policy & national security experience who is passionate about Meta, understands its policies and business priorities, is intellectually curious, and able to function in a fast-paced environment where there are often shifting priorities. Highly motivated and a natural self-starter, this person will also have the opportunity to create new processes, manage information in a visually appealing and easy-to-understand way, and help drive results across a team of dynamic communicators and policy professionals, understanding different perspectives and working to identify the best path forward.

Public Policy Director, US Policy Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate discussions between global, regional, functional and the U.S. policy team on issues of greatest priority, both reactive and proactive, with a focus on how U.S. Policy can help advance Meta's foreign policy, national security, and geopolitical goals.
  • Formalize and project-manage the National Security/Foreign Policy/Geopolitical workstream for US Policy including developing a plan, framework, and goals for group alignment.
  • Explore and build out narratives that highlight areas on which both Meta and national security & foreign policy communities converge to advance policy & business priorities.
  • Represent Meta at key meetings, convenings and events to advance US policy priorities both in the US and in regional markets where National security & foreign policy engagement is needed.
  • Prepare strategy memos, messaging and collateral for targeted distribution within global policy, communications, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Map out and execute engagement strategies to advance those narratives.
  • Create and manage a calendar of all internal and external national security & foreign Policy-related events, to include a list of key events in DC at which Meta's presence would be beneficial in advancing narratives.
  • Work closely with all elements of the US Policy Team to engage and gather recommendations from thought leaders in DC on how and where Meta interests intersect with U.S. national security, foreign policy and geopolitical priorities.
  • Coordinate national security/international consultants' work to ensure that the output remains connected to U.S. policy priorities.
  • Advise Meta teams on public policy matters to guide development of products, services and policies.
  • Represent Meta with government officials, policy makers, civil society and industry.
  • Communicate Meta's positions to policy makers and to external stakeholders.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Foreign Policy/Diplomacy, Public Policy, National Security or related business field
  • 12+ years of foreign policy, national security or related business experience
  • Experience working at a National Security or Foreign Policy Think Tank or Consultancy
  • Strategic thinker with knowledge of geopolitical and global regulatory dynamics across key international markets
  • Cross-functional management experience
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships across key organizations that impact national security, foreign policy and the geopolitical landscape


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • 3+ years of technology policy experience
  • Experience working in the technology industry preferred
