Meta is looking for an analytical thinker with leadership experience, strong collaborative skills, and expertise in counter-terrorism, counter-extremism, or counter-organized crime to join the Dangerous Organizations policy team. Our team works to prevent groups engaged in, or advocating for, violence or hate from maintaining a presence on our platforms. As a Policy Manager, you will be collaborating with a talented and experienced team of subject matter experts driving global policy and enforcement for the Meta family of applications. In this role, you will need to think strategically about the threat of dangerous organizations globally and how those threats translate into particular risks to our products and services, including financial products, as well as the nexus between dangerous organizations and our sanctions obligations. You will need to work to develop product, enforcement, and programmatic countermeasures, including how to disrupt networks of dangerous organizations on our platforms. There are few roles anywhere that offer the ability to have a global impact like this one. You will work in a collaborative environment with a tremendous team of experts to address unprecedented global challenges with no obvious solutions.The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience working across teams in a large organization and managing complex projects related to countering terrorism or other security threats. You will need to demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will need to keep abreast with the latest developments in the field of terrorism and violent extremism, develop policy processes and conceptualize operations, and build and manage relationships both within Meta and with external stakeholders. You should be a team player who is passionate about the services we provide and the people that we serve.

Public Policy Manager, Dangerous Organizations Responsibilities:

  • Work cross-functionally with Policy and Operations teams to develop and implement global policies and processes for the Facebook family of products.
  • Collaborate on measures to address heightened risk from dangerous organizations to our financial products and services, including the nexus of dangerous organizations risk and sanctions compliance.
  • Identify and integrate policy frameworks related to dangerous organizations.
  • Build relationships with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, Operations, Communications, and Legal.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on terrorist and other dangerous organizations.
  • Proactively identify gaps or conflicts in existing counter terrorism and dangerous organizations policies.
  • Develop and manage external events where you interact with external stakeholders who are interested in how Facebook is countering terrorism and other dangerous organizations.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, law, political science or related field
  • 5+ years of work experience in legislation or policy development and implementation
  • Experience in counter-terrorism, counter-violent extremism, countering organized crime, national security, or foreign policy
  • Project management experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • JD, MA, LLM or PhD
  • Experience working in government
