Shift:Day shift with occasionally working night shift as needed.



Description:

The role of QA Lab Lead is to provide leadership/direction to multiple levels of the organization to assure that facility quality systems are being adhered to in order to meet DFA, regulatory and customer requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for inspection, receipt and documentation of raw materials.
  • Manages/Facility Expert in the wet chemistry laboratory for fat and solids analysis.
  • Provides support to Plant Operations as it relates to quality questions and concerns.
  • Supports Records Review, QA Systems, Specialist, Lab Technicians and QA Supervisor during absences, vacations, etc.
  • Assist with or provide training to new hires on GMP, Food Safety and HACCP guidelines.
  • Assist with training and enforcement of corporate quality policies and procedures.
  • Provide instructions and support to all crews and workers assigned to all departments throughout the facility to assure conformance to quality standards.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of the facilities Food Safety and Quality programs.
  • Provide support with new product startup by implementing customer and R&D specifications and documentation.
  • Assist with set up and maintenance of laboratory programs and laboratory equipment calibration.
  • Participate in weekly facility GMP and Food Safety Audits.
  • Provide support as needed to perform LACF record review and laboratory testing.
  • Maintain and participate in facility sensory panel program.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all plant systems and equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow all DFA GMP's and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory food safety, quality and sanitation requirements.
  • Participate, as needed, in any GFSI and Customer Audits.
  • Perform project work as defined by the QA Manager.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • BA/BS Science or Biological Science, Food Science or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years prior lab experience required
  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to use gauges and other devices to verify conformity to standards of product being tested.
  • Must have solid PC skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply to plant environment.
  • Be an effective communicator.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Must be available to work overtime when needed
  • Must be available to train on any shift
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
