Mueller is the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, and we currently have an opening in our Chattanooga, TN plant for a Quality Analyst.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support quality processes and testing methods to define finished product and process capabilities and to establish standards to confirm the manufacturing process and results.
  • Test and inspect products at various stages of production process and compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
  • Ability to understand and follow Design Specifications.
  • Generates 3D scans of material by use of laser technology and analyzes results with professional 3D quality control and dimensional inspection software.
  • Receives, inspects, and verifies, material dimensions against design specifications and communicates results to the appropriate teams.
  • Conduct 5S events and maintains quality lab standardization.
  • Generates inspection software templates to streamline and standardizes PPAP analysis.
  • Supports manufacturing, engineering by providing data, answering questions, and providing solutions as requested.
  • Collects, analyzes and summarizes data, and trends to prepare product and process reports. Uses statistical analysis when appropriate to communicate product capability.
  • Uses critical thinking to interpret results derived from inspection methods.
  • Check and document the dimensional condition of material by means of physical devices as needed.
  • Controls and confirms calibration of laser 3D scanning equipment
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems to accomplish tasks assigned.
  • Active, hands-on leader in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of operational issues especially as related to business unit and plant KPI's.
  • Work within the operational team supporting day-to-day problems and improvements
  • Performs auditor duties in manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Follow established safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Participate in and represent Quality department in Kaizen events, six sigma projects, and internal audits as needed.
  • Actively pursues continuous improvements in an ongoing effort to improve the processes and products.

Required Experience:
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office is a must;
  • Experience with 3D modeling and analysis similar to Geomagic, Polyworks, Solidworks or Creaform is a must.
  • Understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures.
  • GD&T experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and professionalism are a must, as well as a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma tools preferred.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • 2 years' experience in an area dealing with analysis.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team contributor.
  • Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arm's length, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds, and up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision and color vision.
  • Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work around hot heavy machinery
  • Ability to work in an open warehouse environment, subject to seasonal weather (hot/cold)
Education & Experience:
  • Desired Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science preferred.
  • Must have Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have at least a HS diploma or GED equivalent.
