SUMMARY

The Quality & Safety Manager oversees all processes and programs in the assigned operation as they relate to company compliance and regulatory requirements. Support the operation to achieve Quality & Safety goals. Drives consistent performance on site. Identifies compliance gaps that could lead to fatalities or life-altering injuries and promote a proactive safety program focused on internal auditing and continuous improvement goals that benefit the business risk reduction goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for overseeing company safety strategy, initiatives, and programs within the assigned operations.
  • Leads and participates in various audits to identify warehouse and job site hazards.
  • Investigates injuries/accidents and reports root cause analysis to appropriate leadership.
  • Executes safety policies to comply with local, state, and federal (Operational Safety and Health Administration) OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Works closely with leadership to plan for targeted continuous improvement of processes and procedures that reduce potential for injury and increase quality standards of the facility.
  • Leads and participate in various audits (in person and remote) as they relate to safety protocols and process improvements.
  • Oversees completion of job safety analysis and Job Breakdown Sheets (JBS).
  • Inspects work environment, machinery, and equipment in establishment and other for conformance with governmental standards according to procedure in response to complaint or accident.
  • Maintains PIT operator qualification files and records including training logs and operator observation forms.
  • Supports Fleet Safety objectives for the operation to help reduce the probability of serious injury.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and program development to location employees in the interpretation and application of safety practices as they pertain to transportation, warehouse and workplace safety
  • Manage occupational exposure processes to include risk and exposure assessments, develop and implement exposure monitoring plan, and manage exposure controls; observe employees at work to determine compliance with safety precautions and safety equipment used.

QUALIFICATONS

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in related field and minimum 3 years working in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics setting is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Experience in safety and risk assessments is required. Experience with Corrective Actions/Preventative Actions is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (requires frequent manipulation of spreadsheets in Excel). Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of legal requirements and standards around safety practices. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and exercise good judgment in dealing with sensitive information. Thorough knowledge of intermediate math concepts and the ability to apply them to the job. Excellent attention to detail and follow through. Exemplary organization and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under minimal supervision and with a strong sense of self-motivation. Strong analytical ability and high attention to detail. Comfortable presenting to and communicating with a range of employees, managers, customers, regulatory inspectors, and the public.

Physical Activity Level:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, see clearly and talk or hear. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unassisted. The employee must be able to carry and climb a ladder. Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods. Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis. Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.

Working Conditions:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and performed in a climate-controlled environment with adequate ventilation. This position will be exposed to Warehouse working conditions, Exposure to vibration, improperly illuminated or awkward and confining work spaces. Exposure to some degree of varying seasonal temperatures. Working above ground level where the possibility of falling exists. Loud noises typical.
