Position Summary

The Quality Tech will collaborate with customers' quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design. This position will make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production. Provides leadership for the Quality of the product.

Collaborate with customers' quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design. Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production.

Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques. Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerancing, and materials related issues. Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources. Effectively communicate and reinforce commitment to quality improvement efforts.

Develop and submit PPAP documents for new product launches and product/ process changes to meet customer requirements.

Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes. Review and analyze results. Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness.

Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems during new tool or process design and startup.

Coordinate pre-launch production trial run process monitoring.

Participate in the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and maintain Control Plans and FMEA's throughout the life of the part.

Perform duties in accordance with quality system requirements as the voice of customers.

Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Tool-room to resolve customer complaints and concerns.

Lead PPM improvement plan for strategic customers.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Associates degree in Engineering, preferably in Manufacturing/ Mechanical/ Industrial discipline with 3 - 5 years' experience in quality engineering or a high school or technical school Diploma with 5+ years in manufacturing quality required.

Ability to apply appropriate use of statistical techniques.

Ability to determine and apply appropriate Measurement System Analysis tools.

Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.

Technical Qualifications: Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes. Background in GD&T.

Computer Skills: In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office required.

Experience with some quality data analysis software applications is required. (e.g. Minitab)

Project management experience, Certified Quality Engineer, QMS Internal auditing experience

Capable of performing measurements and inspections using hand-held gages like vernier calipers, micrometer, height gage, CMM, Optical comparator, surfometer, profilometer and other custom-designed inspection equipment.

Inspection equipment software, CMM operation/ data analysis software and statistical analysis software.

Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk/hear.

Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, and lift up to 35 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

CMM programming experience is preferred.
