The Perinatal Peer Recovery Specialist is a member of the multidisciplinary team at the Perinatal Behavioral Health SHORE (Supporting: Hope, Opportunity, Resilience, Empowerment) Program. The SHORE program provides comprehensive medication management and short-term therapy for pregnant and postpartum women with substance use disorders. The Peer Recovery Specialist will provide peer support to SHORE patients by encouraging them to maintain individualized treatment plans, participate in recovery-oriented activities, and develop a network of sober supports.
Responsibilities include:
• Provide mentorship, outreach services, and education to pregnant and postpartum women with substance use disorders
• Provide peer counseling in both individual and group settings
• Utilize lived experience as a peer to validate patients' experiences and encourage patients to actively participate in their own recovery
• Provide information on community based recovery services, resources, and peer support networks
• Work collaboratively with treatment team and advocate for patients during weekly multidisciplinary team meetings
• Demonstrate good boundaries regarding confidentiality and personal relationships
• Promote engagement with therapy, medical appointments, and other wellness services
