The Shriver Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals? Shriver Job Corps is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Recreation Advisor to join our team. As a Recreation Advisor, you will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and engaging environment for students to develop essential life skills through recreational activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Development:
    • Design and implement a variety of recreational programs that cater to the diverse interests and needs of Job Corps students.
    • Collaborate with other departments to integrate recreational activities into the overall curriculum to enhance the holistic development of students.
  • Student Engagement:
    • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages student participation in recreational activities.
    • Actively engage with students to identify their interests and preferences, ensuring that programs are relevant and enjoyable.
  • Leadership and Supervision:
    • Provide leadership during recreational activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
    • Supervise recreational events and outings, maintaining a high level of student safety and well-being.
  • Resource Management:
    • Manage recreational resources, including equipment and facilities, ensuring their proper maintenance and availability for use.
    • Collaborate with the administration to secure necessary resources and funding for the enhancement of recreational programs.
  • Counseling and Mentorship:
    • Build positive relationships with students, offering mentorship and guidance as they navigate personal and academic challenges.
    • Utilize recreational activities as a platform for imparting life skills such as teamwork, communication, and goal-setting.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Connect with local community organizations to expand recreational opportunities for students through partnerships and collaborations.
    • Organize community events and involve students in community service projects to foster a sense of civic responsibility.

    Qualifications

    High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates of Arts Degree or 1-year related experience working with youth. Must possess a valid in-State Driver's License and meet Company insurability requirements. CDL preferred.

    Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
