Description:
Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group is looking for a Medical Assistant to join a mission-driven healthcare team. Our vision is to provide state-of-the-art healthcare to those within our local communities, creating a positive impact for each individual that walks through our doors.
Working under the direction of the Referrals Supervisor, this position is responsible providing a variety of support services which are essential to the efficient operation of the organization's referral process. Works closely with the clinical department staff as well customer service staff in the offices.

You Will Be Responsible For:

Exceptional Patient Care: Process and maintain the electronic Epic Referrals Workqueue prescreening for completeness of information, urgency, and other designated criteria Completes pre-authorization workflows as required. Contact insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met. Reviews and updates patient registration for membership eligibility and PCP selection.

Excellent Communicator: Ensures that an accurate, timely referral is processed and documented in accordance to department guidelines.
Documents the status of the referral as well as the authorization detail in the referral as appropriate following departmental guidelines. Communicates and provides feedback regarding changes, trends and process to supervisor and Manager as appropriate.
- Active Teamwork: Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to established procedures. Releases patient information only in accordance with the Confidentiality Statement and the written approval of the patient and physician. Ensures the security of patient files in accordance with established hospital and HIPAA procedures to protect confidential information.
REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in healthcare preferred. Experience within a medical office or billing department preferred. Medical terminology preferred. Knowledge of patient billing preferred.
Proficiency with all Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) required. EPIC experience preferred.
