This position is responsible for operation and mechanical and/ or electrical maintenance of the ammonia refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, process chilling, hot water, air compressors, waste treatment operations and their safe and efficient operations. Must be able to understand and work within the rules and standards of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP). Must be able to work within a total team environment and be able to effectively deal with team members, members of the management team, operations personnel, as well as contractors. Must have a foundational knowledge in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration and other systems under the areas of assigned responsibilities. Be willing to participate in training and skill development in all areas of responsibility, and be self-motivated.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Formal training from an Air-conditioning/Refrigeration Technical School is a plus. RETA and IIAR Ammonia Refrigeration training is preferred.

Experience: Must have a minimum of (6) months of industrial refrigeration/ammonia work experience documented in the work history section of the application or a graduate of an industrial refrigeration training program. The 6 months of work experience must be at one employer. Experience in the HVAC/ industrial refrigeration industry a plus. Hands-on industrial maintenance experience in electrical and mechanical trades is required. Candidates must have working knowledge of 460 volt electrical systems, electrical testing equipment, cooling towers, process chillers, process controls and safety systems. Mechanical skills in precision alignment and measuring devices, basic hand and power tools. Extensive knowledge of process safety management and industrial safety procedures is required. A successful candidate must be able to read and understand process system and equipment P&ID's and must be able to pass a hazmat physical, certify with SCBA, and complete required training to be certified as an onsite hazmat incident responder. RETA Certification CIRO - Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator or CARO - Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator is highly desired.

Computer Skills: Must have a working knowledge of Windows based software, such as Microsoft Excel and Word, and the ability to understand and enter data into the SAP Plant Maintenance computerized maintenance management system.

Communication Skills: Must be able speak, read and write fluently in English and possess a high level of written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills; and interact professionally with all levels of the organization.

Travel: Approximately one to two weeks travel per year possible for training.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Special Skills: Practical knowledge of industrial maintenance best practices and industrial refrigeration systems including rigging, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC's, motor controls, building controls, process chillers, cooling towers, centrifugal pumps, automatic valves, pressure relief valves, corrosion under insulation, process safety management, and shop equipment operation desired.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds (with assistance), climb tall ladders, bend, and crouch, and perform tasks while working from elevated platforms. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold/hot conditions. The noise level in the work environment normally requires hearing protection.
