Reliability Engineering Intern

Compli LLC is comprised of four business streams, 1) Commissioning/Qualification/Validation (CQV), 2) Regulatory Compliance, 3) Asset Management & Reliability (AMR) Services, and 4) On-demand Staff Augmentation. Providing innovative services to the Life Sciences, Food, Data Center, Industrial Processing and Discrete Manufacturing markets, we are seeking a Reliability Engineering Intern to join our project team performing basic Mechanical and Reliability Engineering services to a key AMR client.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work ~10 • 15 hours/week remotely and at our client•s site in the South Olathe, Kansas area under the direction of the Compli Project Manager. Supporting various facets of this Engineering, Maintenance & Reliability Transformation initiative, we are seeking a qualified University intern excited to assist this long-standing client in supporting the execution of the following activities:

  • Asset Criticality Ranking (ACR)- Assists in organizing and facilitating cross-functional team sessions utilizing a MS-Excel-based weighted ranking template in prioritizing the client•s maintainable asset base.
  • Drawing/Documents Management- Assists in locating current hard and soft copies of site prints, drawings, OEM manuals, etc. and recommending and creating repositories for them. Responsible for configuring the file structure and for using tools such as Meridian to accomplish this.
  • Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)- Assists in identifying the various ways in which the critical equipment at the site fail and capturing the mitigating Maintenance activities recommended to be adopted to achieve Asset Reliability in either MS Excel or industry software such as ReliaSoft.
  • Preventive Maintenance Plans (PM)- Assists in writing thorough, quantitative, and clear Preventive Maintenance tasks based on inputs from a combination of the FMEA•s, OEM recommendations and site knowledge from the experienced craftspeople. Familiarity of the P-F curve will be required to assign interval frequencies. Developing Operator PM•s will be required as well, ensuring Production supports equipment care activities.
  • Predictive Maintenance Plans/Implementation (PdM)- Assists in identifying applicable Condition Monitoring technologies to recommend as the equipment care strategy for reliably maintaining and understanding the health of the site•s maintainable asset base. You will recommend the interval frequency of each PdM discipline, establish routes, and determine whether this will be performed internally or externally and that there is a means to convert any PdM •finds• into corrective Work Orders (WO).
  • PM/PdM Review & Optimization (PMO)- Assists in leading a cross-functional team in pairing down the criteria in which to pursue improving site PM•s and PdM•s from our internal Compli MS-Excel templates. Responsible for mining the site•s Work Management database (Maintenance Connection) and capturing the team•s recommended improvements to then be uploaded into the sites CMMS.
  • Process Workflows & Associated Narratives- Assists in facilitating team-based sessions to capture a dozen key Work Management Process Workflows. To use software such as MS-Visio noting decision diamonds and functional roles responsible for the various Best-in-Class activities. To then capture the written, SOP-type narratives from the developed process workflows diagrams and upload them in the agreed-upon site repository for training, etc.
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)- Applying a combination of Mechanical Engineering principles with data mining skills using site-preferred Failure Analysis methodologies to lead cross-functional teams in developing the site•s RCFA program. This also includes identifying what the Analysis Triggers are, internal Team training required, repository to store the RCFA events and whether equipment redesigns are in order.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following skills required to perform the duties of a Reliability Engineering Intern safely and successfully for this client project:

Required:
  • Proficient in MS Office software including Excel and Access
  • Strong communication skills • written and verbal
  • Good analytical and planning skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be thorough and have good attention to details
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Committed to meeting deadlines
  • Good working ethics and ability to treat documents with confidentiality
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor•s or master•s degree program in an engineering or science field of study
  • All candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States
Preferred:
  • One year experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with the use of CMMS software such as Maintenance Connection
  • Familiarity with the use of Drawing Management software such as CAD and Meridian
  • Familiarity with Reliability concepts such as the P-F and Failure Progression curves, Predictive Maintenance technologies & software such as ReliaSoft and RAM Modeling
  • Familiarity with regulations associated with LOTO a plus
  • CMRP or CRL certification
