The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center (IUSCCC) is one of only 51 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States. This prestigious designation recognizes centers around the country that meet rigorous criteria for world-class, state-of-the-art programs in multidisciplinary research. The IUSCCC puts significant resources into developing research programs, faculty, and facilities that will lead to better approaches to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.

The Preclinical Modeling and Therapeutics Core of the IUSCCC is one of several shared resources offered to assist with cancer research. The mission of the Preclinical Modeling and Therapeutics Core (PMTC) is to provide IUSCCC investigators with cost-effective and comprehensive services to facilitate the development and testing of novel pharmacological and cellular therapies.

Job Summary

The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Research Analyst to coordinate and conduct daily complex small animal surgeries and pharmacological injections for the Preclinical Modeling and Therapeutics Core.

General Responsibilities

• Performs complex and intricate laboratory experiments while following research techniques and procedures.
• Develops procedures and protocols in collaboration with leadership.
• Prepares research reports or analyses for projects.
• Maintains safety records and ensures safety/compliance procedures and protocols are followed.
• Provides guidance and support to junior-level staff in laboratory operations.
• May develop, prepare, and coordinate grant applications and grant-related activities to obtain funding for research projects and related work.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required

• Bachelor's degree in related field

Preferred

• Master's degree in related field

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

• 3 years related work experience

Working Conditions / Demands

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Additional Information

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
