Job Summary:
The Research Assistant will be primarily be responsible for delivering intervention to elementary school participants as part of an IES grant examining the efficacy of the Friends On the Block curriculum. The Research Assistant will administer academic and behavioral assessments before commencement of intervention. This position will teach small groups of students daily, in 20-30 minute sessions. Additionally, the Research Assistant will monitor learning growth with curriculum assessments. The position will communicate with classroom teachers to coordinate scheduling and obtain needed information.
This is a part-time, partial year position that will work approximately 20-25 hours per week.
Essential Functions:
- Deliver Friends On the Block intervention daily to student participants at partner schools (groups 1-3) in 20-30 minute sessions. Will track dosage information for these sessions. Communicate with project manager regularly to problem solve and maintain a consistent and accurate implementation of the intervention.
- Assess students using cognitive and academic assessments. Progress monitoring regularly to monitor academic growth.
- Participate in team meetings to ensure an open and consistent flow of communication between project staff. Participate in other day-to-day operations of the research grant as needed.
- Position requires travel to local area schools in the DFW area.
Qualifications Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree is required.
A minimum of 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience is required.
Knowledge of working with students with disabilities is preferred. Texas Special Education Certification is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Candidate should have excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and able to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Candidate should have strong time management skills.
Must have strong attention to detail.
