The ALS Center at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate 1 (RA1) to join a team of about 20 talented clinical research professionals focused on the study of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Ongoing studies include a mix of investigator-initiated studies, industry sponsored studies, and multi-center studies coordinated by members of the ALS Center. The RA1 will join a highly collaborative and synergistic team with opportunity for professional growth. Some prior human subjects research experience is desired, but not essential. This position offers a unique opportunity to be immersed in a stimulating clinical research environment, with potential for significant professional growth. Strong communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate should be able to commit a minimum of two years to working in the research group. Primary Responsibilities:


  • Performs specialized and complex procedures related to a wide range of research studies /substudies.
    * Participates in the publication of significant research results.
    * Advances expertise through education, training, and research.
    * Participates in training sessions and workshops.
    * Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
    * Ensures study participants are provided in-person handoff of investigational product.
    * Assists the senior clinical research coordinator with managing electronic case report forms, database input, and IRB compliance
    * Assist PI and CRC submit required documentation to the UM IRB, to ensure successful approval of research protocols
    * Assist PI and CRC administer informed consent forms for patients on drug and devices studies.
    * Collect data from outside institutions, and assist PI and CRC complete data into case report forms.
    * Assist in keeping accurate records of study medications, study devices, and research data in general.
    * Perform other duties as assigned by PI.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required

  • No prior experience required

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

  • Commitment to the University's core values.

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
