Position Summary

The Division of Public Health is seeking a full-time Research Associate to participate in manuscript preparation and submission, data collection, data analysis, and data management, grant writing , and design of new studies or novel data collection for PI Dr. Todd Lucas. The Research Associate will participate in a NIH-funded health disparities research. This position is located in Flint, MI.

The social psychology, health psychology, or public health-oriented Research Associate will participate in a NIH-funded health disparities research via participation in the following activities:

(1) Manuscript preparation and submission (40-60%): Dr. Lucas has both recently completed and currently active projects in the areas of stress, health communication, cancer control, and COVID-19 related antibody testing. All projects have data available for academic publication. Dr. Lucas needs help writing papers, and this is the primary funding rationale for the position. Pending studies include experimental and non-experimental studies of health disparities and closely related topics that are relevant to the Flint community (e.g. lead exposure). The Research Associate will work on manuscripts of mutual interest to the fellow and to Dr. Lucas.

(2) Data collection, data analysis, and data management for Dr. Lucas's previous and ongoing funded research (20-40%).

(3) The remainder of the time (up to 20%) can be devoted to any or all of the following activities, as desired by the fellow: Grant writing (K-award), independent manuscript preparation and submission, design of new studies or novel data collection, seminars, etc.

The start date is ASAP. The position is based at the College of Human Medicine in Flint, a vibrant and growing research group dedicated to community partnered research for underserved populations. This group has brought in $40 million in NIH and CDC funding in its first 2.5 years.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Social Psychology, Health Psychology or a related field

Minimum Requirements

PhD in social psychology, health psychology, or a related field

Strong academic writing skills

Strong quantitative analysis skills

Have multiple peer-reviewed journal articles published or in press, including first-author article/s
