Description:

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of musculoskeletal biology, RNA sequencing techniques as well as mouse models to study bone and cartilage metabolism and skeletal development. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Responsibilities may include the ability to lead projects and work cooperatively with others, carry out and troubleshoot experiments, and assist in manuscript writing. Previous experience in bone biology is preferred but not required.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to be self-motivated, have a strong background in standard molecular and biological techniques, cell culture and/or animal model, and have genuine interests in developing computational skills for single cell data and imaging analyses.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate on grant proposals and journal publications, participate in the department's educational programs as assigned, and mentor/teach junior lab members. The candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment with experts in cell biology and molecular biology.
