The Renthal Lab at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our efforts to understand the genomic and epigenomic mechanisms that establish neuronal identity and how these processes contribute to nerve repair after injury. Our long-term vision is to leverage these molecular insights to build new gene therapies that improve nerve repair and chronic pain after nerve injury. We are searching for a Research Lab Manager with wet-lab experience, strong communication organizational skills, and a passion for science. This position is particularly well suited for a talented individual who enjoys optimizing and tackling challenging problems with logic, cutting-edge technology, and teamwork. The Lab Manager will be responsible for directing lab operations, which includes onboarding/offboarding and training of research staff, inventory management and ordering, financial oversight, and safety/compliance/ethics. The Lab Manager will also be responsible for organizing/maintaining shared laboratory resources including common reagents, protocols, mouse lines, and equipment. These operational responsibilities are likely to occupy ~60% of the Lab Manager's time and will be supported by a collaborative team that includes Dr. Renthal, an administrative assistant, a research coordinator, research assistants, and high-quality coffee/espresso/tea. In addition to lab operations, ~40% of the Lab Manager's time will be dedicated to research and helping to co-author/patent resulting discoveries in collaboration with postdoctoral fellows, students, and research assistants within the lab. This position would be ideal for someone with significant prior laboratory experience who seeks the flexibility of an academic position to apply their organizational, leadership, and research skills to improve our understanding of the nervous system.
