The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (Pediatric GI Division) is seeking a Research Scientist who will be involved directly in the design and execution of research to understand mechanisms of mucosal inflammation in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the laboratory of Michael Rosen, MD, MSCI. Dr. Rosen directs the Stanford Medicine Children's Health Center for Pediatric IBD, which is supported by a generous philanthropic gift.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative group including scientists, data analysts, clinical research professionals, and academic physicians. The candidate filling this position will operate at a high level of independence and support the PI through the following activities: determining appropriate experiments for answering scientific questions, designing and conducting novel or complex experiments, interpreting results independently and planning next experiments, generating and modifying standard operative procedures, developing and testing new methods, keeping apprised of latest relevant scientific literature, drafting complete scientific manuscripts and major portions of grant applications, and training junior laboratory members and trainees. A background in immunology and/or cell biology and experience with murine models is desirable.
The candidate will support the preparation of various protocols, proposals, progress, and final reports and be expected to make scientific and written contributions to justify first or co-authorship on manuscripts for publication and abstracts for professional presentation, with the work being reviewed by the PI or faculty. They will present ongoing work and findings to colleagues in internal and external research settings through oral platform and poster presentations and complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities of a limited scope as needed. It is expected that the Research Scientist will help oversee the guidance of postdoctoral scholars, graduate, and undergraduate students in the laboratory.

The expected pay range for this position is $82,000 to $96,000 annually.
Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years since their applicable education, field, or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; among other factors.
