Research Technician 3 to assist and support the scientific investigation to study immuno-oncology as directed in the Pelotonia Institute of Immuno-Oncology. Researcher will evaluate sex differences in anti-tumor immunity under the supervision of Hyunwoo Kwon, MD, PhD (Internal medicine resident physician in the OSU Physician Scientist Training Program), Dwight Owen, MD, MS (Medical oncologist at OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center - James) and Zihai Li, MD, PhD (Founding director of Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology, a comprehensive bench-to-bedside OSU research initiative).
Responsibilities will include flow cytometry, animal (mouse) work, cell culture, PCR, western blot and other key molecular biology techniques, as well as basic laboratory skills including record keeping, performing quality control checks on equipment and materials, and monitoring research supply. While prior knowledge of flow cytometry sample preparation and analysis as well as animal handling and census management are desirable, they are not required. Researcher must be available for occasional work on weekends or holidays for emergencies as needed.
Education/Experience:
A bachelor's degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Training is provided and overall opportunity is only limited by the candidate's work ethic and skill.
Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
Excellent people skills and ability to function within a team required.
Experience in a biological/health research capacity is required.
This experience is ideal for a candidate with an interest in pursuing a career as a physician-scientist in the future.
Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
Hiring Range: $17.10 - $22.50 hourly
