Advertised Job Summary:Under general supervision, performs a variety of complex animal, tissue, and cell procedures by using equipment in the Instrumentation Resource Facility (IRF) including electron microscopy, histology, immunohistochemistry, molecular analysis, and cell sorting. Instructs IRF users on the proper use of IRF Equipment. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to School of Medicine compliance policies, procedures and regulations. This position is established in support of expanded research activities.
Required Education and Experience:Master's degree in a related field, or bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years related research experience; or high school diploma and 6 years related research experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Expertise with light, confocal and electron microscopes, specimen preparation techniques, and working with multiple investigators and projects. Knowledge of histological techniques and use of microscopes. Knowledge of electron microscopy techniques including transmission and scanning electron microscopy imaging and sample preparation. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
Job Duty:Processes cell and tissue samples for electron microscopy studies performed by the Instrumentation Resource Facility (IRF). Operates related equipment including transmission and scanning electron microscopes with minimal assistance from other IRF staff.
